Derick O'Neill is a graduate from Dublin City's National College of Art & Design. After being involved with various bands and being influenced by a heavy music scene in Dublin, Derick set about creating portraits of pop cultural icons that capture a visual associated with the music around him. Derick's fasincation with icons and imagery expose the enduring cultural appeal of say Bob Dylan alongside contemporary icons still in the Media's attention commenting on the ephemeral nature of public life and the growing culture of nostalgia. Through various acts of homage, periods from the past are dragged into the light seared onto the collective memory and a personal sense of nostalgia for another time is palpable.
